GMR Varalakshmi Foundation (GMRVF), is the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of GMR Group. It’s objectives are to develop social infrastructure and enhance the quality of life of communities around the locations that has the Group’s presence.

This non-profit (Section - 8) company has its own professional staff selected from top academic and social work institutions, is governed by a Board chaired by Group Chairman, GMR Group.

Group Chairman's Message

Dear Friends,

We at the GMR Group strongly believe that corporates have a special and continuing responsibility to contribute towards social development. Social responsibility is also one of the seven core values of the Group.

Our philosophy has been that we will work intensively with communities which neighbour our business to enhance quality of life. It is with this vision that we started work in Rajam, near our Jute and Sugar operations in 1991, to bring quality education to the communities there. With the growth of the Group, the Corporate Social Responsibility has also grown in scale and scope, and today GMR Varalakshmi Foundation has a presence in 25 locations across the country. We work with the under–served sections of the communities in each of these locations, looking at Education, Health, Hygiene and Sanitation, Empowerment and Livelihoods and Community Development. Vocational Training is a strong focus of the Foundation since 2003.
