Nagavali Institute of Rural Entrepreneurship Development (NIRED) is located at Rajam in Srikakulam district. The primary objective of NIRED is to identify, orient, motivate, train and assist youth from the districts of Srikakulam, Vijayanagaram and Vishakapatnam, to take up self-employment ventures or jobs. The Institute was established in January 2003 under the joint sponsorship of GMRVF and Andhra Bank Rural Development Trust (ABRDT). NIRED is a residential facility with capacity for running four channels at a time and candidates are provided both technical and soft skill training in-house.
NIRED offers courses in Refrigeration and Air-conditioning, Electrical course, T.V., VCD repairing and assembling, Mobile phone and telecom repairs, Cycle repair and assembling, Ladies Tailoring, Home Nursing, House Wiring and Plumbing, Computer and DTP, Gents Tailoring, Four Wheeler Driving and Repairing etc., apart from regular Entrepreneurship Development Programs. The selected candidates are given free training, boarding and lodging facilities. Post-placement support to trainees is the most distinguishing feature of NIRED functioning. This follow up helps to sustain motivation and to help overcome problems of new entrepreneurs.
Strategically, NIRED has embarked upon industry partnerships for its training programs which are aimed at creating a win-win for both the industry as well as the Foundation. NIRED believes that partnerships with leading corporates will help improve the quality of the training and serve the needs of industry through providing personnel with skills which are market relevant. Partnerships serve the underlying purpose of mainstreaming drop out youth through dignified employment.
