In many of the smaller towns and villages where GMRVF is active, there is hardly any culture of using a library or availability of career counseling.

Preparations of youth for appearing for competitive exams are often hampered because the books are prohibitively expensive. In the absence of avenues for interacting with peers or with mentors there is little enthusiasm, motivation or guidance for them.

Highlights

Over 500 members have gained employment at different job levels of public and private sectors with assistance and guidance from the centers. (Group II, Defence / Police Jobs, Teachers, Bank Jobs, other Government Jobs, Private Jobs etc.)

Digital Classes on various subjects of competitive exams are conducted to increase the interest levels of the members and to enable them to gain in-depth knowledge of the subjects

Awareness sessions on career and personality development are conducted to the members at regular intervals

Various mock-examinations and programmes are conducted to enable members to effectively participate in competitive examinations.

The centers have also helped several youths to get good ranks in various University entrance exams. The counseling support provided to the members is very effective in guiding them towards appropriate careers and higher degrees

The centers are also providing Computer training on MS-office and Typewriting. Office assistant training is also provided to the aspiring candidates.

Bringing Out the Talent

Oota Seetamma is a differently abled (partially blind) poor youth hailing from Moolapeta village near Uppada at Kakinada of Andhra Pradesh. Her father is a farm worker and mother is a house wife. After completing her schooling at Ramanakkapeta, she joined the Govt. Polytechnic college, Kakinada and completed diploma in Early Childhood Education. Seetamma was worried about her future because of the intense competition in the job market. It was at this time she came to know about Pratibha Library cum Counseling Centre run by GMRVF at Moolapeta and She immediately joined as a member. At Pratibha, she started utilizing the available books besides taking counseling services. Pratibha team helped her in the preparation of resume and forwarded it to Youth4jobs at Hyderabad. Foundation also sponsored a 45 day residential training at Hyderabad, and after completion of training she confidently attended an Interview with Hypercity Retail (India) Ltd, Hyderabad and was selected as Customer Desk Executive with a monthly salary of Rs.8,500/-. She attributes her success to Pratibha for providing excellent support in her onward march.
