Celebration of a 25 Year Journey - GMR Group's Community Partnership

Since the founding of GMR Group's Corporate Social Responsibility wing in 1993, GMR Varalakshmi Foundation has focused on enhancing the quality of life of communities.

Structured as a Section 8 (not-for-profit) Company, the efforts of the GMR Varalakshmi Foundation are directed by a Board of eminent individuals, chaired by the Group Chairman, GMR Group. The Foundation is staffed by dedicated professionals from top academic and social work organizations.

Silver Jubilee Celebration of GMRVF

The year 2017-18 has been celebrated as the Silver Jubilee year of GMRVF.

2016

Livelihoods Restoration Program

The Livelihood Restoration Program (LRP), has been implemented by the GMR Varalakshmi Foundation (GMRVF) in a very intensive and integrated manner, that has resulted in generating sustainable livelihood opportunities in farm and non-farm sectors. The Program proposes to offer 28 livelihood interventions that offer affected families as a means of providing financial support.

GMR Varalakshmi Care Hospital, Rajam

Set up a state-of-the-art 165-bed multi-specialty hospital at Rajam in Andhra Pradesh to make quality healthcare accessible to the local communities.

06 October

Center for Empowerment & Livelihood - Delhi

The first urban vocational training center of GMRVF was set up at Delhi with focus on wage employment oriented courses.

Samarth

A significant community-based rehabilitation initiative by DIAL CSR for the differently abled, aptly named 'SAMARTH' is an initiative that focuses on providing inclusive education, physiotherapy, speech therapy, aids and appliances, government schemes and other supports to differently abled persons. This is done through the 'Samarth Center' set up at Savda.

Empower

EMPOWER is an unique initiative undertaken by the foundation, that aims at enabling the women of Help Groups (SHGs), engaged in handicraft production, to make and market their handmade products,across the country.

Nutrition Center

Nutrition Centers were established by GMRVF with a view of reducing maternal and child mortality and to provide quality ante-natal and post-natal services to pregnant and lactating women. Apart from provision of nutrition supplements and regular health check-ups, the women are also given awareness on precautions to be taken up during pregnancy and in the lactating stage and on child health related issues.

Pratibha

Pratibha Library-cum-Counseling Centers make competitive exam books available for the rural youth and provides coaching and counseling support to help them get through various competitive examinations.

First Bala Badi

Bala Badis run by Foundation provide joyful learning along with inculcating good habits among the children of 3-5 years age group.

15 January

Launch of first MMU

Aimed at bringing quality healthcare to communities located in remote areas, Mobile Medical Units provides support to elderly and vulnerable groups.

The first skill training institute was set up by GMRVF.

23 July

Launch of Gifted Children Scheme

Launched the Gifted Children program that aims at identifying, encouraging and financially supporting the education of meritorious children from under-privileged families to enable them to realize their full potential.

13 March

First Suvidha Toilet

Recognizing the importance of Sanitation in the well-being of communities, Foundation built its first community toilet way back in 1998 and since then it has built 28 public toilets and supported over 1000 families in constructing Individual Sanitary Lavatories

GMR Institute of Technology, Rajam

An initiative aimed at bringing superior technical education to the doorsteps of the rural youth in the North Coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh. GMRIT, offers high quality education, industry exposure and internationally benchmarked pedagogy.

Varalakshmi St. Ann's School, Rajam

Another educational initiative and first of it’s kind for the foundation.

SGCRC Degree College, Rajam

The GMR group kick started it’s first social responsibility initiative with setting up the college at Rajam, Srikakulam District at AP.
