GMR Varalakshmi Centre for Empowerment & Livelihoods (GMRVCEL) – Vizianagaram

GMR Varalakshmi Foundation started a vocational training Centre in Nagaram village, Konaraopet Mandal in one of the most backward parts of Karimnagar District in Telangana State in September 2017. This Centre was established in partnership with two other organizations namely Jeeyar Educational Trust and Prathima Foundation.

The center is being run with the support of Govt. of Andhra Pradesh as part of its Skill Development Initiatives. Shri. P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, the then Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Govt. of India inaugurated the center on 15th April, 2015 at ITI Buildings in Vizianagaram. Subsequently, GMRV CEL initiated conducting skill development trainings for the unemployed youth at Govt. ITI Buildings. Later, the Foundation identified another suitable building at R.K. Township, Vizianagaram and is conducting additional batches.

Highlights

The aim is to upgrade skills of the youth to enable them to gain suitable employment.

This initiative is for the mobilization of youth for vocational trainings.

So far, the institute has trained over 1540 candidates of whom over 1060 are placed.

The institute has conducted trainings under PMKVY 2.0 and MEPMA.
