GMR Varalakshmi Foundation's Key Milestones

Since its establishment in 1993, GMR Varalakshmi Foundation (GMRVF), the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of GMR Group, has been dedicated to elevating the quality of life within communities.

ASDC, Goa Commences Operations

Aviation Skill Development Center started operations at Goa on 1st July, 2022

2021

Inauguration of Ekta Skill Development Center, Kevadia

Ekta Skill Development Centre was established in Kevadia, Gujarat in July 2021.

2020

Inauguration of Vocational Training Center at Hubbali

A new vocational training center was inaugurated at Hubbali, Karnataka in November 2020 by Shri Pralhad Joshi, Hon’ble Minister for Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs.

2018

Valedictory of Silver Jubilee Celebration of GMRVF

GMRVF marked the conclusion of its Silver Jubilee celebrations in Rajam, with Sri Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, as the esteemed Chief Guest.

2017

Silver Jubilee Celebrations of GMRVF

The year 2017-18 marked the Silver Jubilee year of GMR Varalakshmi Foundation (GMRVF), completing 25 years in its commitment to empowering communities.

2016

Livelihoods Restoration Program

The Livelihoods Restoration Program (LRP) was launched to provide livelihood opportunities for project-affected families enabling economic empowerment. GMRVF implemented this program in an intensive and integrated manner, resulting in the generation of sustainable livelihood opportunities in farm and non-farm sectors.

2013

Center for Empowerment & Livelihoods - Delhi

The first urban vocational training center of GMRVF was set up in Delhi with focus on wage employment oriented courses.

2011

GMR Varalakshmi Care Hospital, Rajam

Set up a state-of-the-art 200-bed multi-specialty hospital at Rajam in Andhra Pradesh to make quality healthcare accessible to the local communities.

2009

SAMARTH

This is a significant community-based rehabilitation initiative by Delhi International Airport Limited CSR. The initiative focuses on providing inclusive education, physiotherapy, speech therapy, aids and appliances, government schemes and other support to differently abled persons. This is done through the 'Samarth Center' set up at Savda.

2008

Center for Empowerment and Livelihoods (CEL) and GMR Chinmaya Vidyalaya at Shamshabad

A full-fledged residential vocational training center was established in Shamshabad, focusing on imparting employability skills to disadvantaged youth. Additionally, GMR Chinmaya Vidyalaya was inaugurated within the airport campus, ensuring that high-quality education is accessible to the communities in the vicinity of the airport.

2007

Nutrition Center

GMR Varalakshmi Foundation set up Nutrition Centers in Rajam, providing essential ante-natal and post-natal services, along with nutrition supplements and regular health check-ups for pregnant and lactating women. This initiative has notably contributed to a reduction in maternal and child mortality rates in the region. Additionally, consistent education on preventive care during pregnancy, lactation, and child health has further advanced this cause.

2005

Launch of CSR Activities at Hyderabad Airport

CSR activities were initiated around Hyderabad Airport through the launch of Mobile Medical Unit operations.

First Pratibha Center

The Pratibha Library-cum-Counseling Centers serve rural youth preparing for various competitive examinations. They offer textbooks, E-library resources, as well as coaching and counseling support.

First Bala Badi

Bala Badi’s run by the Foundation provide joyful learning experiences to children in the age group of 3 to 5 years.

2003

NIRED

The Nagavali Institute of Rural Entrepreneurship Development (NIRED) was set up at Rajam to provide vocational training to under-privileged youth.

2001

Launch of Gifted Children Scheme

The launch of this distinctive program aims at identifying, encouraging and financially supporting the education of exceptionally talented children from disadvantaged backgrounds, allowing them to unleash their full potential.

1998

First Suvidha Toilet

Acknowledging the crucial role of sanitation in enhancing community well-being, the Foundation constructed its first community toilet way back in 1998.

1997

GMR Institute of Technology, Rajam

This initiative strives to make advanced technical education accessible to the rural youth in the North Coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh. GMRIT provides top-notch education, industry exposure, and internationally recognized teaching methods.

Varalakshmi St. Ann's School, Rajam

First English medium school in Rajam built by GMRVF to provide quality education to local students.

1992

SGCRC Degree College, Rajam

The GMR Group launched its first social responsibility initiative by establishing a degree college in Rajam, Srikakulam District, Andhra Pradesh. The institution offers B.Sc. and B.Com courses to empower the local youth.
